Exciting News: Weskus Mall Launches Solar Project!
Weskus Mall is proud to announce the launch of the first phase of our brand-new solar energy project, located in the upper-level parking area. This initiative marks a major step in our ongoing commitment to sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint.
This exciting project will commence middle June 2025 and will unfold over the next 10 – 12 months, with key goals including:
- Generating green energy
- Supporting a greener, eco-friendlier future
- Carbon saving of approximately 1400 tons of CO² per year
- Provide shaded carports for our shoppers
To accommodate the installation, some trees in the upper-level parking area have had be removed. Some trees will be replanted on-site in the lower-level parking area to preserve greenery while most of the trees will be donated to the Saldanha Bay Municipality. They have committed to replant these trees in local communities as part of broader environmental initiatives.
